Last Thursday evening more than 40 community members joined SEARCH for a postcard-writing party at Homeplace Beer Company in Burnsville. Equipped with Valentine-themed cards, a list of addresses, and some persuasive talking points, and fueled by pizza and tasty beverages, attendees got to work composing messages to encourage our legislators to pass Medicaid Expansion in North Carolina in 2023. Many of the cards were provided by the NC Justice Center, which is spearheading the “Love Thy Neighbor” Campaign supporting the expansion of Medicaid. Other cards were brought by attendees or created from supplies provided by SEARCH. By the end of the evening 133 cards were written and at least two dozen more were taken home to be filled out and mailed.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR CALL-IN ACTION HOUR
Join Health Action NC who will host a “call your legislators” action hour on February 7th at 11 AM. Volunteers across the state will participate in an hour-long Zoom session, during which you’ll make calls to your legislators urging Medicaid expansion! Instructions and suggested scripts will be sent after you register.
